I have clicked on "Registered User" button, application has directed me to TCS career site. There I found a minor issue of unwanted text.

I was working on my PC and suddenly my PC was stopped working. Monitor's light was blinking. But CPU was not working. I have rechecked all the outside power connections and tried to restart, but still my CPU was not working. Then I have opened my CPU and checked all the inner connections. Even inner connections were also good. I have checked all the data cables and one data cable was broken. The data cable which connects Hard Disk with mother board was broken. Later on I have replaced the broken data cable with a new one and my PC was working perfectly. This is similar to route cause analysis. In route cause analysis we will analyze all the problems and find the route cause of the problem. So that the process works better.

My experiences while testing Arabian Nights website

www.arabiannightsstore.com is an online web portal which is built using Presta Shop. The website is a product related website. Main products of arabian nights store are Hookhas, Perfumes, Spa and Perfumes.

While testing I was worried about one issue i.e., the currency displayed on website should be Indian Currency, but after going to pay pal the currency should be converted to dollars. But the problem is session is remaining and due to that total website currency is getting converted into dollars after clicking on checkout. How ever we have solved this issue.

Another issue was related to image uploading. I have uploaded all the products using csv file. When I uploaded products using csv in staging site, it was working perfectly. But when I was trying to upload it in live server, images were not uploading. The problem was our hosting department created the account keeping PHP in safe mode. After disabling the PHP in safe mode, the images were perfectly uploading to the live site.

This was my experience while testing Arabian Nights website. I request all the testing platform people to share their knowledge on what ever experiences they have faced. Only by sharing knowledge will improve.

I was having my salary account in ICICI Bank. My salary was credited and the balance was showing in my internet banking account. But when I have tried to with draw amount from ATM's of Andhra Bank and Vijaya Bank. Both ATM's declined the transaction. Whether there was problem in one ATM. Then the other ATM has to definitely work. But at a time two ATM's cannot go wrong. Then where was the problem? Whether the problem was in my account or there was a delay in transfer of money from office. But in real time if machine's like ATM won't work, then the customers feel dis satisfactory.
There is an Andhra Bank ATM near my home (Sharada Nagar Colony, Karwan Branch). The ATM frequently goes out of service. Image if you are doing a money transaction through ATM suddenly the ATM won't work. How frustrating it will be. So What I mean is thorough testing need to be done before implementation of any system.

I am having a online trading account with Religare and they have implemented a new software Racepro.
Earlier used version of racepro was slight better than the current version.

Before implementing the software proper testing need to be done. The software should be released only once the quality team approves the software.
But when I was using the new version of racepro. I faced lot of problems, I was unable to allocate and release my shares from my demat account.

I didn't except these kind of bugs from a reputed company like Religare.

Any system should be thoroughly checked before releasing it. If customer's get repeated problems then the reputation of the company will be spoiled.
There will be a chance of losing customers. Sometimes page not found error, sometimes functionality errors.
Means the system is not performing the required task. I used to make screen shots of problems faced by me and sent them through email.

Finding a bug before release is far better than solving it afterwards.

I got the below mentioned invitation from jobafair.com
As mentioned in the email I went to attend the interview yesterday i.e., on 26-6-09. I entered into the room where system test is being conducted and they have given a system to log in into the jobafair.com site. One madam was taking all the details and certificate xerox copies as mentioned. She saw my resume and told that you are in eligible to attend the interview as you are experienced candidate. She told me to go out of the room and wait outside for a while. I along with three other guys and a girl waited outside,Bhanu Jampala came and said that this is only for freshers.
This is not the way to behave with any one. It took me nearly one hour 45 minutes to reach Silicon valley wasting my time and money.
Please don't do like this for anyone.

Bangalore (PTI): IT major Hewlett Packard on Thursday said it has launched a new training programme in association with Indian Institute of Hardware Technology (IIHT) to meet the growing demand for software professionals in the country.

The company said the 'HP Software University'(HPSU) is the first of its kind programme in the non-enterprise training space, aimed at addressing the growing demand for software testing professionals in India.

Scope of the project:
General:
This section describes what is being tested, such as Functionality, GUI, Performance of a website.
Basically this is a website of automobiles which display cars.
The site should be browser compatible.
I.e., site should be displayed properly in all the browsers without any design errors and functionality errors.

Unit Testing:
Unit testing is basically done by programmer's. In unit testing one small module will be taken by programmer and will be tested so that it behaves exactly as required. For example a registration form will be tested for validation and after that integrated with the other modules.

System and Integration Testing:
Once all the modules are completed. Then integration test is performed to test all the modules and check whether the system is behaving as expected.
For example in an ecommmerce website where products are displayed for selling. We will test whether the order process is accurately done by giving a test order after integration of all the modules.

User Acceptance Testing:
User acceptance test is done by customer to check whether the requirements are met perfectly. The customer will check the site before making it live.

Soft skills are definitely important for every tester. In real time projects some times tester have to chat with client. The chat may be voice chat or non-voice. To be able to understand what exactly client wants. We need to understand first what exactly he is speaking. Generally the accent of clients from UK and USA will be different. If you are chatting in messenger then you can easily manage. Otherwise it will be difficult to manage in voice chat because first of all we need to understand what exactly he is speaking.

For facing challenges like this we need to have soft skills. Any way all this we will gain through experience. But be prepared to face the challenges.

First of all before testing any application know the application and what is the use of it.

For example : If we are testing a site related to Bouquet.

The site will consists of front end , back end and database.

Front end is where users will log in and will order bouquets and in the back end admin will manage all the orders given by the users. All the information related to user log in's and orders will be stored in database.

The payment will be done depending on the gate way they have used.

Assumptions:

Don't start with the assumption that the developed software will not have bugs. Any software will not be 100% bug free. Always start the testing thinking that there are lot of bugs.

Domain:
Good domain knowledge should be there to design good test cases.

Maintain good relationship with developers.

Software testing methods are traditionally divided into Black box testing and White box Testing.

Black Box testing is nothing but simply testing the functionality,GUI and validations without going through the code.

The software tester only knows what the system is supposed to do, he does not know how it works internally.He has to work on the basis of expected outputs.
Example: System Testing

Usually manual testers follow black box testing.

When Coding is finished, the program goes to the Testing Group for further testing. You will find and report errors and get a new version for testing. It will have old errors that you didn't find before and it will have new errors.

The Probability of changing the program correctly on the first try is only 50% if the change involves ten or fewer source statements.
The probability of changing the program correctly on the first try is only 20% if the change involves around 50 statements.

Black box testing is mainly used in websites.

A websites mainly consists of admin, front and database.

Admin is controlled by the owner, front end is used by users and database is used to store information relating to users and transactions done by the users.

1. Microsoft’s Anti-Unix Site Crashes; Apr 3, 2002 : A marketing Web site, part of a multi-million dollar campaign by Microsoft and Unisys to get customers to switch from Unix, is turning into a major embarrassment. www.wehavethewayout.com which was powered by Unix kit and that, when Microsoft switched it to Internet Information Server software, the site crashed completely.
2. Cisco Flaw Enables DoS Attack; Apr 2, 2002 : Vulnerability in Cisco’s CallManager software can result in a memory leak in the computer telephony framework causing the server to crash, which could be used by a hacker to start a denial of service (DoS) attack. The fault is most commonly seen when CallManager systems are integrated with a directory such as Active Directory or Netscape.
3. Computer Glitch Causes £22m Tax Error; Mar 22, 2002: The Inland Revenue has said that computer problems were responsible for an estimated 134,000 basic ratetaxpayers being overcharged by a total of £22m. Individual taxpayers paid an average of £148 over the odds because of data transfer problems between the national insurance computer system and the PAYE system.
4. Yahoo Glitch strikes again; Mar 20, 2002: Parts of Yahoo were shut down on Tuesday following software problems encountered in the integrating of Yahoo Groups and Yahoo Clubs.
